This policy explains what data the Vera app collects, why, and your choices. By using Vera you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

You provide:

• Account info — email address, username, password (stored only as a secure hash), and optional display name and bio.
• Date of birth — used to confirm you meet the 13+ minimum age. We store it; we do not display it.
• Content — videos and photos you record in the app, captions, keywords, and comments.

Created through use:

• Activity — likes, follows, and watch activity (used to rank your interest-based feed).
• Device token — if you enable notifications, your Apple push token, to deliver them.
• Technical/log data — IP address, app version, and basic request logs, to operate and secure the service.

We do not collect location, contacts, health, financial, or payment data. Vera has no purchases.

How we use it

• Provide core features (recording, feed, follows, comments).
• Personalize your interest-based feed.
• Send notifications you opt into.
• Keep the platform safe (automated moderation, handling reports and blocks).
• Maintain, secure, and improve the service.

Advertising measurement

Vera uses AppsFlyer, an attribution service, to measure which advertising campaigns lead to app installs. This tells us that an install came from a particular ad — it is how we know whether advertising is worth continuing.

For this purpose we may share your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) and basic app events (such as install and app open) with AppsFlyer and, where relevant, the advertising platform that showed you the ad.

You control this. On first launch we ask for your permission to track, using Apple's standard prompt. If you decline, no advertising identifier is collected or shared, and nothing about the app changes — every feature works exactly the same. You can change this any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not show ads inside Vera, and we do not share your content, email, or posts with advertisers.

Authenticity & moderation

Video and photos can only be captured in the app — there is no upload or import. To keep the community safe, media is automatically screened for prohibited content before it is published. Users can report and block others; we review reports and may remove content or accounts.

Service providers

We share data only with vendors that process it on our behalf: Supabase (database & storage), Amazon Web Services (automated moderation), Apple (push delivery), and our hosting provider.

Your choices & rights

• Edit your profile in the app.
• Delete your account anytime in Settings — this removes your access and your content from the app.
• Turn off notifications in iOS Settings anytime.
• Depending on where you live (e.g., California or the EU/UK), you may have additional rights; contact us to exercise them.

Children

Vera is not for children under 13. We require a 13+ birthdate at signup and do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Data retention & security

We keep your data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. We use industry-standard measures (encrypted transport, hashed passwords). No system is perfectly secure.

Changes

We may update this policy; we will post the new effective date and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
